Ever wanted to try Snowshoeing or Cross Country Skiing, but didn't want to invest in your own equipment? Well you're in luck! There are many places to rent winter equipment in Minnesota. This is not an exhaustive list, but a list of 10 places to rent winter gear relatively close to the Cities!
1) Minnesota State Parks
There are 13 MN State Parks that rent Snowshoes. It cost $6/Day. Visit the DNR's website for more details.
The rentals at Wild River State Park are operated by a private concessionaire located at the park's Trail Center. To reserve equipment, call Wild River Ski Rental at 651-257-0685 or find more info on their website - please note rates are higher & they offer Cross Country Ski rentals too. 2) Minneapolis Parks
Hiawatha Golf Clubhouse offers Snowshoe & Cross Country Ski Rentals.
Columbia Golf Clubhouse offers only Snowshoe Rentals.

3) The Loppet Foundation at Theodore Wirth Park
Rent Snowshoes or Cross Country Skis at Theo Wirth Park through The Loppet Foundation. While you're there, grab breakfast or lunch at Mill Valley Market.
4) Three Rivers Parks District
The Three Rivers Parks are scattered all around the metro. They are offering all types of Winter Equipment Rentals like Snowshoes, Cross Country Skis, Down Hill Skis, Snowboards, Kicksleds & much more. Some equipment can be reserved ahead of time, but others are first-come, first-serve. 5) Dakota County Parks
Dakota County Parks rents Cross Country Skis, Snowshoes & Kicksleds. They also have the most modern Camper Cabins! Find out more on the Dakota County Parks Website.
6) U of M Outdoor Adventures
The U of M rents out all sorts of outdoor equipment and it's not only for students! Check out their long list of rental equipment including Camping Gear, Bikes, Canoes, Climbing Gear & More on the U of M's Website. They offer some of the best prices I've seen & you can rent equipment for longer periods of time.
7) Tangle Town Bike Shop
Tangle Town Bike Shop in South Minneapolis rents bikes, including Fat Tire Bikes which are perfect in the snow. I've done a little research & most bike shops have paused their rentals, but Tangle Town is still offering them. Learn more on Tangle Town Bike Shop's Website.
8) Hoigaards
Hoigaards in St. Louis Park offers Cross Country Ski Rentals for Adults and Children. Visit or call Hoigaards for more information.
9) Tonka Cycle & Ski
Tonka Cycle & Ski in Hopkins rents out Bikes, including Fat Tire Bikes. They might even rent out Ski & Snowboards as well. Visit their Tonka Cycle & Ski's Website or give them a call for more information.
10) REI Bloomington
REI Bloomington rents out all sorts of equipment. From Climbing, Cycling, Camping, Snow Gear & more. To inquire about their rentals, you must give them a call. They are currently renting out Snowshoes, Cross Country Skis and Camping Equipment. Visit REI Bloomington for their contact information.
